Someone once told me I was a job hopper. It wasn't meant to be insulting, but it still kind of stung. I have held a lot of jobs over the past few years: cashier at cinnabon, phone agent at a beka, secretary, teacher, sales associate at 3 stores, and management at 2. I just get to a point where i get fed up with the stupid crap someone and leave for something better. Almost all of my jobs have involved some type of great perk, promotion, or raise. All of my reasons for leaving have been valid, at least to me. Maybe I should just give up my ideas of a perfect job, where you find a reason to work there, have good hours and pay, and good co-workers. Does this type of work environment exist, or am I being unreasonable. Anyway, there has to be some questions about why I left DEB since in my last few previous posts i was raving about how happy i was there. Let me fill you in.
-I was told I was promoted and promised a raise. Then i was told I was not promoted. Then I was told I was promoted. When I left the current status of that was that I wasn't promoted.
-I was promised $150 in bonuses (due to my promotion) that I never received.
-I was doing the job of a full time assistant manager without being compensated for it (I was only a part time keyholder which is basically a glorified sales associate).
-I was accussed by sales associates of breaking policies which I did not break.
-I reported another member of management to corporate and they never took actions against her.
Needless to say, this all led to a lot of disapointment in their broken promises and a lot of stress because the reported member of management would lie to sales associates about my breaking policy to try to get me fired. I couldn't take it all anymore and after a particularly awful day at work (which involved 2 seperate incidences of people yelling at me in the back room and being asked to stay an extra 4 hours to fulfil duties that were not mine, I gave my 2 weeks notice. I have no regrets about it either.
