The Daily Grind

I took about 2 months off after leaving DEB.  My stress level is much better now.  I was hired at Subway last week.  After being a manager for sometime now, it seems a little odd to just have to go to work and make a sandwich for someone.  I don't have to do any paperwork, don't have to deal with irate employees or customers, and I am not responsible for anything or anyone except myself.  And I only took a paycut of about $1 an hour.  All those extra duties are not worth that $1 to me.  Plus everytime i work i get a free sandwich and cookie, so i pretty much break even.  It has been an interested first couple of days though.  On my first day, they dumped me into the fray without any kind of training and then asked me to stay an extra hour.  When they asked me to stay an extra hour, I asked if it was ok to use the bathroom.  They told me it was ok this time, but to go before i clock in next time.  Huh?  Yeah, you read that right.  The next day i was in the back doing some dishes, and the owner and an associate got in a HUGE fight right in front of me and were screaming at each other which resulted in that associate getting fired.  I am pretty sure that I now wear that girl's shirt and visor.  The third time i worked there was without incident.  However, I did learn that the owner keeps most of our tips to cover for "our mistakes".  Also, you can get in trouble for giving out too many napkins, putting too many veggies in a sub, or using too many paper towels.  All of the associates are afraid of pissing off this this little Indian lady.  It's a little bit funny, ok a lot funny.  But I definately want to stay on her good side!!!
